SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP)   A second man has been indicted in the 2016 killing of a Springfield man.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that 23-year-old Khalil Gaines faces a drug charge, as well as one count each of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the March 2016 killing of 18-year-old Landon Bays. His indictment was made public Friday after he was arrested. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.

Prosecutors previously announced that 35-year-old Chad Murphy had been indicted on identical charges in the killing. The indictments say Bays was shot while attempting to sell more than 35 grams of marijuana to Murphy and Gaines.

Both suspects are jailed in Greene County on $500,000 bond.
