The Cotter Police Department has announced the kickoff of the Annual Cotter Neighborhood Block Parties on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 at Big Spring Park.

This will be the second year for the block parties, which took place for the first time in Cotter last August. Mayor Peggy Hammack says last year’s parties were a huge success.

Cotter Police Chief Travis Hopson says the events are meant to foster a greater sense of community, as well as give the public a chance to get to know their local law enforcement and first responders.

Hopson says the goal in knowing the locations of the parties is for law enforcement and first responders to stop by each party for a chance to come together with the community.

The block parties are community law enforcement relationship building events, ones in which groups of friends and neighbors come together and have a potluck, while also getting to know local law enforcement and first responders.

Those who wish to host a party should contact Cotter City Hall at 870-435-2122 or stop by in person to sign-up.
