The victims of a Marion County double homicide Saturday have been identified as 59-year-old David White and 89-year-old William Henry White, both of Yellville, according to Sheriff Clinton Evans.

The two were identified as the uncle and grandfather of the alleged assailant, 32-year-old Donald Beckwith Jr. of Yellville. Beckwith was arrested Saturday and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Sheriff Evans said earlier his office received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 6:45 Saturday evening from an individual reporting a shooting nearly 10 miles south of Yellville on Arkansas Highway 14.

Deputies arrived at the residence and found the bodies of two individuals on the front porch deceased from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Beckwith was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the sheriff’s office where he allegedly admitted to shooting both individuals during a physical altercation. In addition, a weapon suspected of being used in the shooting was reportedly found and taken into evidence.

Beckwith is being held in the Marion County Detention Center without bond as he awaits his first appearance in Marion County Circuit Court.

Evans said Wednesday the incident remains an open case, with investigators continuing their work.
