Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce president Patty Methvin says festivities at the Boone County Regional Airport scheduled for this weekend have been cancelled due to possible inclement weather, but the Friday night concert will still happen. The Harrison Daily Times reports the remnants of Hurricane Gordon still churn toward the Ozarks with forecasts of possible heavy rain. With the forecast, the 23rd annual Arkansas State Hot Air Balloon Championship and Aviation Days set for the airport have been cancelled, as has the CASA Kids Fest set for 4:00.

Methvin says the cancellation is a safety issue. She says even if it’s not raining, high winds would keep the balloons from tethering or flying.

Methvin says the concert with Jason Pritchett and The Steel Horses will proceed in a hangar at the airport at 8:00 Friday night.
