An ordinance allowing five municipal employees to conduct business with the City of Mountain Home received unanimous approval by the city council in a meeting Thursday night with all members present.

Arkansas law allows employees and officials to conduct business with the city upon passage of an ordinance defining the extent of the transactions.

The approved ordinance covers Bob Harris for CPR training, Steve Nearn for detailing, Larry Caruso for intake well services at the clean water plant and Eric Setzer and Shawn Lofton for mowing.

In other business, the council unanimously approved an ordinance granting a variance for the Glenbriar Commons Subdivision located at the corner of Laurel Road and East 16th Street.

The action follows the Mountain Home Planning Commission unanimously approving a variance last November to allow a curb distance of 25 feet instead of 30 feet, as required in residential local streets in projects of more than four lots per gross acre.

The council also approved 15 line items in the code enforcement budget, along with a roller and a loader for auction from the street department.
