A bank bag containing an illegal drug dropped in the parking lot of a convenience store has led to an arrest in Fulton County.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Thursday, a Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the convenience store in Salem Tuesday, where a cashier ran outside and handed him a small, gray zippered bag with a bank’s name written across it.

The cashier advised a man driving an SUV with a broken taillight, later identified as 33-year-old Jeffrey Holt of Gepp, dropped the bag in the parking lot.

Upon inspection, the officer discovered a smaller bag inside the bank bag containing what he believed to be methamphetamine and an insurance card with a woman’s name on it.

When the officer returned to the scene to review video footage, he noticed a vehicle, matching the description provided by the cashier, enter the parking lot. It appeared the driver was looking for something on the ground.

When the driver noticed the officer, he left the parking lot. The officer pursued the driver and conducted a traffic stop. A search of the vehicle revealed a homemade glass smoking device in the empty hole where the car radio would normally be. The device field tested positive for crystal methamphetamine.

Holt’s bond was set at $20,000.
