Junior Bombers lead the way for MH cross country teams at Chili Pepper

The Mountain Home High School and Junior High cross country teams competed over the weekend at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The race featured some of the top teams from Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

The Junior Bombers had an outstanding day, finishing 2nd out 62 teams with three runners in the top 14. Andrew Westphal had a 4th place finish out of 722 runners. Hendrix Hughes finished 7th and Ky Bickford finished 14th. Also for the Junior Bombers, Jacob Lewis finished 46th, Darren Blount was 55th, Xander Towne was 97th and Isiah Kemp finished 111th.

The Junior Lady Bombers did not have enough runners for a team score. Rylee Patterson finished 18th out of 525 runners, finishing the last two miles with only one shoe.  Cayla McMaster finished 75th.

The Mountain Home senior girls finished 51st out of 94 teams. Marcie Cudworth was the top runner, finishing 243rd out of 576 runners with a season best time. Kalee Daniel was 276th and Victoria Strange finished 281st.

The Mountain Home senior boys finished 67th out of 95 teams. Whit Lawrence paced the Bombers by finishing 143rd our of 651 runners with a new personal best time.

In the J.V. boy’s race, Mountain Home’s Brayden Daniel finished 310th out of 789 runners with a season best time.
