Sales tax collection news is positive for both MH and Baxter County

For the first time this year, the City of Mountain Home has seen a monthly increase in sales tax revenue over the same period in 2017. The September sales tax collection reports reflect dollars generated in July.Mountain Home City Treasurer Rita Murray says this is the first time in 10 months the city has not had funds withheld by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. The city has been refunding an overpayment to DFA over the past 10 months, while the county opted to make a one-time payment on the inadvertently paid funds.

Murray says city sales taxes received from the county were $186,464, down just under $50 from the prior year. The city’s sales tax of $181,164 was up 1.13 percent from the prior year.

Collections for the City of Mountain Home’s public safety tax over a seven-month period are $937,582.

At the county-level, Treasurer Jenay Mize says collections dipped just slightly compared to July 2017 but are up for the year overall.
