Caller ID confirms intruder inside woman’s own home

A Newton County woman received a surprise telephone call from her estranged husband while she was at her place of employment. Details of the call led to the man’s arrest in early August for violation of an order of protection placed in effect just three days prior to the incident.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Wednesday, the woman told Newton County law enforcement her estranged husband, 38-year-old Patrick Finnegan of Little Rock, called her saying he had broken into her home through a window.

The woman said she could see her home phone number on the caller ID on her work phone.

When a deputy responded to the women’s residence, Finnegan walked out to the front porch of the home.

Finnegan is alleged to have refused multiple times to place his hands behind him to be handcuffed. He also jerked away with one cuff in place. After being cuffed, he continued to push back against the deputy and refused to enter the patrol unit.

The affidavit noted Finnegan was previously convicted of violation of an order of protection. He also faces a misdemeanor count of refusal to submit to arrest.

Bond was set at $1,500.
