Junior Lady Bombers get 2 wins in Brookland volleyball tourney

The Mountain Home freshmen volleyball team came away with two wins in three matches at the Brookland Junior High Tournament on Saturday. The Junior Lady Bombers entered the tournament as the top seed in the gold bracket.

Mountain Home began with a straight set victory against Annie Camp after posting scores of 25-21 and 25-21. Riley Schmitz recorded ten digs for the Junior Lady Bombers, Katelyn Hill had five kills and five blocks, and Tatum Smith ended up with four aces.

Mountain Home also won their second match in straight sets after beating Marion 25-21 and 25-20. Georgia Burnham led the Junior Lady Bombers with 14 digs and seven kills; Kendall Carter had ten digs, eight kills and two aces; and Schmitz and Kiah Beard each added ten digs.

It was a different result in Mountain Home’s third match of the day. The match needed all three sets as Valley View topped the Junior Lady Bombers 25-19, 28-30 and 17-15. Schmitz finished with 18 digs; Carter had 13 digs and an ace; Anala Ritchie recorded ten digs; Burnham had eight digs, seven kills and three blocks; Smith recorded seven kills, three digs, five blocks and an ace; and Hill added four kills and ten blocks.

Mountain Home will return to the Hangar Tuesday as they host Nettleton.
