BRMC joins Arkansas Heart Attack Registry

Baxter Regional Medical Center is joining a statewide collaborative effort to reduce the impact of heart attacks. The local hospital is one of 23 that joined the Arkansas Heart Attack Registry.

Baxter Regional ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) coordinator Kim Foxworthy says the hospital began working on being a part of this project nearly three years ago when her current position was first implemented.

Foxworthy says more people die from heart attacks in Arkansas than in any other state. The Arkansas Department of Health formed a partnership with the American Heart Association approximately four years ago in an attempt to troubleshoot the problem and decrease the mortality rate, and Baxter Regional and other hospitals have joined in since its inception.
