The Baxter County Airport’s master plan is under revision as recommended by the Federal Aviation Administration. It’s the first update of the document since 2005. Prior to the 2005 revision, the master plan was last updated in 1998.

Coffman Associates Airport Consultants of Lee’s Summit, Missouri was awarded the master plan contract, and Associate Eric Pfeifer will be among those at a public information workshop Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the Baxter County Airport.

Coffman has support in the endeavor from Grimes Consulting Engineers of Little Rock and Martinez Geospatial of Eagan, Minnesota.

Peifer says the local airport stacks up well against other smaller general aviation airports.

Peifer says the master plan update team is about half-way through the process with a direction for the airport’s next 20 years yet to be set.

Those interested in the master plan process are invited to the open house, walk-in format workshop Wednesday afternoon. Peifer says the event will be a great opportunity for the community to hear what’s in store for the Baxter County Airport. He says the airport is an economic engine for the area.
