Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident Monday evening when their vehicle left the roadway, traveled deep in a wood line, striking trees.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy was dispatched to a disturbance in the area of County Road 99 and County Road 1425. The officer was unable to locate anyone in the area. About an hour later, the deputy discovered marks indicating a vehicle had left the roadway.

The officer located a vehicle deep in the wood line, with two people on the ground. The two individuals, 34-year-old Charles Gillingham and 32-year-old Tiffany Regan Hewett, both of Mountain Home, advised the vehicle they were traveling in had wrecked about 9:30. The report did not indicate if they had been thrown from the vehicle. They told the deputy they had tried to stop someone, but the person had left.

Gillingham said he was driving the vehicle and left the roadway as he negotiated a left-hand curve. His vehicle bounced through the roadside ditch, traveling over 100 feet through a yard before entering the woods. The vehicle began hitting trees and came to rest another 60 feet inside the woods.

Both individuals had what appeared to be non-incapaciting injuries and refused emergency medical attention.

Their vehicle appeared to be totaled and was towed from the scene.
