Lt. Gen. Ostrowski to get Faithful Hero Award at Night of Honors

The Mountain Home Education Foundation Night of Honors is one day away, and another Mountain Home High School graduate will be among the guests of honor. United States Army Lieutenant General Paul Ostrowski will be the recipient of the Faithful Hero Award Thursday evening at Big Creek Golf and Country Club.

General Ostrowski says it came as a pleasant surprise when he was informed of the honor.

General Ostrowski graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1981. From there, he went on to attend the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, and graduated in 1985. He says he first got the idea of attending West Point from a John Wayne movie.

General Ostrowski has served in the military for the past 33 years. His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with the Campaign Star and the NATO Medal. He has also earned the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Scuba Diver Badge, the Ranger Tab, the Special Forces Tab and the Army Staff Identification Badge.

General Ostrowski has worked his way up to his current positions of Principal Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Aquisition, Logistics and Technology and Director of the Army Acquisition Corps. His major role is to provide capabilities to the Armed Forces in terms of equipment, and he’s responsible for the research, development, science, technology and procurement of the necessary equipment.

General Ostrowski says he considers his ability to work with other soldiers as the highlight of his career.
