The MHHS Athletic Hall of Honor is one day away from wrapping up Homecoming Week with its induction banquet. One of the members of the Class of 2018 is longtime Bomber supporter Hugh McClain.

McClain was influential in the development of Mountain Home’s on-campus baseball and softball complex. In addition to Bomber and Lady Bomber games and the Class 1A State Tournament, McClain Park has also hosted the last two Babe Ruth 13-Year-Old World Series. His sons Hugh III and Kirk and his grandsons Cain, Gage and Ryder have all attended the Mountain Home School District and played all sports throughout their school years.

McClain was a 1952 graduate of Marshall High School. After serving in the U.S. Army and working for a national feed company in Missouri and Iowa, he returned to Arkansas in 1969 and started McClain Farms. His business became the largest independent turkey producer in the state for the next 40 years. He also operated McClain Forest Products, LLC, and it has grown into several locations in Arkansas and Missouri.

McClain was also instrumental in starting TrustBanc in 1997. TrustBanc was later named Liberty Bank of Arkansas, and it’s currently known as Centennial Bank. In addition, he was influential in the development of McClain Hall at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.

McClain will be enshrined at the MHHS Athletic Hall of Honor Banquet Saturday afternoon at Mountain Home High School cafeteria. The reception begins at noon, and the banquet is scheduled for 1:00.
