An Ozark County man, who allegedly broke into a business, was captured and held at gunpoint by the business owner. The incident happened Saturday morning about 4:00 at The Old School House Antique Mall in Midway.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says 45-year-old Christopher Theodore Mattson of Thornfield was in the process of burglarizing the store when the store owner entered the building. Mattson pushed the owner who then fired a shot into the ground and then held Mattson at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived.

The store owner had been alerted after the door to the business was kicked in sounding an alarm. Mattson allegedly caused some damage inside the business before being captured.

Mattson is charged with a felony count of commercial burglary and a misdemeanor count of assault in the third degree. He is being held on $15,000 bond awaiting his first appearance in circuit court later this month.
