A Mountain Home man was given four years in prison after changing his plea to guilty on charges of possessing methamphetamine, fleeing from police triggering a high-speed chase through city streets, and a number of traffic violations.

Forty-three-year-old Michael James Leverton faced charges in three active criminal cases. The original case stemmed from a late April arrest, followed by a second arrest May 13th and a final arrest Aug. 8th.

Each time, Leverton was found to have methamphetamine in his possession. When he was picked up in May, Leverton also had a small quantity of marijuana with him.

It was the Aug. 8th arrest when Leverton fled from a Mountain Home police officer who attempted to stop his vehicle for minor traffic violations. The ensuing chase through city streets reached 90-miles-per-hour, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Leverton is reported to have slammed on his brakes twice during the chase causing the officer’s patrol car to hit the back of the Mountain Home man’s vehicle.

Leverton eventually pulled into the driveway of his listed address along Buzzard Roost Road. When the officer made contact with Leverton, he found a small plastic bag containing a crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine.
