Several local firefighters recently spent the day in Buffalo City and gathered for a special training session. Buford Fire Chief Will Syfrett says nearly 30 firefighters from Buford, Norfork, Lone Rock and Clarkridge took part in a swift water class.
Chief Syfrett says the class was an all-day session in which the firefighters learned about swift water rescue and recovery. The attendees are now in a unique category because not all fire departments respond to rescue river operations. In fact, Syfrett says he has had to respond to rescues as far down the river as Sylamore because Calico Rock does not participate.
