Junior Lady Bombers finish 3rd in district volleyball tourney

Mountain Home’s freshmen volleyball team wrapped up its season with mixed results Saturday in Jonesboro. The Junior Lady Bombers ended up with a third place finish in the 5A-East District Tournament on the campus of Douglas MacArthur Junior High School.

Mountain Home’s first match needed all three sets, but they were able to defeat Greene County Tech 24-26, 25-22 and 15-10. Kendall Carter led the Junior Lady Bombers with ten kills, ten digs and two blocks; Annie Norcross provided eight kills; Riley Schmitz recorded 28 digs; Georgia Burnham had four kills, ten digs and three blocks; Anala Ritchie added eight digs; and Katelyn Hill finished with four blocks.

Mountain Home did not fare as well in their second match as Marion won in three sets with scores of 25-19, 24-26 and 15-12. Kiah Beard ended up with 30 digs for the Junior Lady Bombers; Schmitz had 22 digs; Carter recorded eight kills and 17 digs; Burnham provided five kills, seven digs and six blocks; Tatum Smith finished with four kills, six digs and two blocks; and Hill added two kills and seven blocks.

Mountain Home combined for over 150 digs on the day. The Junior Lady Bombers wrap up the year at 18-7.
