Polydor/Republic/UMeOver the last year or so, The Moody Blues have been celebrating the 50th anniversary of their 1967 symphonic concept album Days of Future Passed, but the veteran U.K. band is set to turn its attention to their 1968 follow-up, In Search of the Lost Chord. A 50th anniversary reissue of the latter album, which was released in July of ’68, will hit stores on November 2 in multiple formats and configurations.

A five-disc deluxe version of the reissue features three CDs and two DVDs. The CDs include new and original stereo mixes of In Search of the Lost Chord, mono mixes of some of the songs, non-album cuts, alternate mixes and recordings from 1968 BBC Radio sessions.

One DVD includes multiple high-res audio mixes of In Search of the Lost Chord, including a surround-sound mix. The other DVD is a video disc featuring previously unreleased footage from two 1968 French TV appearances, and an entire Moody Blues concert special that aired on BBC TV in September of ’68. The box set also comes packaged with a 76-page book featuring new sleeve and a bevy of rare photos and images of memorabilia.

The In Search of the Lost Chord reissue also will be available as a standard single CD, a 180-gram black-vinyl LP and a limited-edition colored-vinyl disc, as well as standard and deluxe digital downloads.

In Search of the Chord was a concept album focusing on spiritual and philosophical themes popular with the Flower Power generation of the late ’60s. The record, which peaked at #23 on the Billboard 200, featured such memorable Moodies songs as “Ride My See-Saw,” “Voices in the Sky,” “The Actor” and “Legend of a Mind.”
