Columbia RecordsA new theatrical film inspired by Bob Dylan‘s classic 1975 album Blood on the Tracks is in the works, Variety reports.

The film will be directed by Luca Guadagnino, who received an Oscar nomination for his work on the 2017 romantic drama Call Me by Your Name.

The movie’s script will be written by Richard LaGravenese, and is based on an idea by Rodrigo Teixiera, head of the RT Features production company. LaGravenese previously wrote screenplays for, among other films, The Fisher King, The Bridges of Madison County and the HBO Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra.

“Bringing this project to life is a dream to me,” says Teixeira “We worked for a very long time to find the right way into Bob Dylan’s work and having collaborators such as Luca and Richard are an absolute privilege.”

Blood on the Tracks, which is widely considered among Dylan’s finest albums, reached #1 on the Billboard 200 and featured such enduring songs as “Tangled Up in Blue,” “Simple Twist of Fate” and “Shelter from the Storm.” It’s sold more than two million copies in the U.S. to date.

As previously reported, a new box set called More Blood, More Tracks, featuring outtakes, demos and alternate versions of songs from the Blood on the Tracks sessions, will be released on November 2. The collection is the 14th volume of Dylan’s Bootleg Series.
