Former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett will release a new solo album titled At the Edge of Light on January 25, 2019.

Similar to 2017’s The Night Siren and 2015’s Wolflight, Hackett’s new album finds the veteran prog-rock musician incorporating a variety of genres into the new tracks with the help of a cast of international musicians. Steve says the themes of At the Edge of Light‘s 10 songs acknowledge the current upheaval in the world, while calling for a more harmonious planet.

“In these dangerous times, deep shadows feel even sharper than usual and we find ourselves standing at the edge of light,” Hackett maintains.

“The contrast between dark and light weaves its way throughout the album in many ways, from the sense of good fighting evil through to the interplay of dark and light opposites magically combining in cultures, including the heartbeat of India and primal tribal rhythms.”

He adds, “Ultimately, this album embraces the need for all musical forms and cultures to connect and celebrate the wonder of unity in this divided world.”

The album features contributions from ex-Toto drummer Simon Phillips, former Pink Floyd touring backing vocalists Durga McBroom and Lorelei McBroom, and Steve’s brother, flutist John Hackett, as well as musicians from Sweden, Iceland, India and Azerbaijan.

At the Edge of Light will be available on CD, and as a CD/DVD set, a CD/two-LP vinyl package and digitally. The DVD features a 5.1 surround-sound mix and a behind-the-scenes documentary.

In February 2019, Hackett will be taking part in both YesCruise to the Edge and Justin Hayward‘s On the Blue Cruise. He also has a variety of concerts scheduled in the U.K. and mainland Europe through next fall.
