Surfdog RecordsStray Cats revealed earlier this month that they will be releasing a new studio album next year, but frontman Brian Setzer will first be spreading some holiday cheer with his other group, The Brian Setzer Orchestra. The big band already had announced plans for a 2018 edition of its annual Christmas Rocks! Tour, and now comes word that the rocking, swinging outfit will be putting out a new concert video titled Christmas Rocks! Live on Blu-ray on November 9.
The video was filmed last December at the Granada Theatre in Santa Barbara, California, and features renditions of 18 songs, including Stray Cats hits, yuletide gems, Setzer solo tunes and select covers, plus a guest appearance by Santa Claus! Those who purchase Christmas Rocks! Live also will receive an audio download of the concert.
As previously reported, The Brian Setzer Orchestra’s 2018 Christmas Rocks! Tour is plotted out from a November 16 show in Minneapolis through a December 22 performance in Los Angeles. The aforementioned Stray Cats album will mark the rockabilly trio’s 40th anniversary and will be the band’s first studio effort in 25 years.
