ABC/Randy HolmesEven before Jennifer Nettles had her son in 2012, she admits October 31 was already one of her favorite days of the year. Now that nearly-six-year-old Magnus is in the picture, she says it’s only gotten better.

“I was very much into Halloween way before I had a child,” the Sugarland singer explains. “It is probably my favorite of all the holidays.”

“I love dressing up,” she adds. “I love costumes. I love just the spectacle and the theater of it all. And it is twice the joy now that I get to then experience it with my kid.”

Last year, Jennifer, her husband Justin, and Magnus all dressed as characters from Batman.

“We had a family theme,” she recalls. “Justin was Batman, and Magnus was Joker and I was Harley Quinn, and this was all Magnus’s desire, and of course we were like, ‘Yes, we’ll do it!’ So it’s very fun for me.”

This month, Jennifer’s been shooting Harriet, which is based on the life of abolitionist Harriet Tubman. Meanwhile, Sugarland’s latest single, “Babe,” which features Taylor Swift, just broke into country’s top fifteen.
