3 receive Friends of BC Library scholarships

Three students have received scholarships from the Friends of the Baxter County Library.

Mountain Home High School graduate Kacie Enders received a $1,400 scholarship. Enders is attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Mountain Home High School graduate Douglas Messick received an $800 scholarship. Messick is attending University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

Cotter High School graduate Izzy Tuck received a $400 scholarship. Tuck is attending Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.

The Friends of the Baxter County Library scholarship was open to Baxter County residents who were a public high school graduating senior, with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, and who had been accepted by an accredited school of higher education.

Applicants were asked to write an essay on the topic “In this age of “Googling for answers”, address the importance of using credible resources and discuss some resource examples.”

The Friends of the Library support the library with financial contributions and promote involvement with the library.
