A pair of season openers will be played Saturday as Mountain Home’s freshmen basketball teams begin the 2018-2019 campaign. The Junior Bombers and Junior Lady Bombers will be in Searcy to start action in the Cub Classic.
Mountain Home’s girls will take the court first as their opening opponent will be West Memphis Wonder. Last year’s Junior Lady Bombers finished the season with a record of 15-5 after getting knocked out of the district semifinals at Marion with an overtime loss to host Junior Lady Patriots.
This will be the first year for Mountain Home under the direction of Lindsey Leonard following the retirement of Brenda Yancey. Leonard says she knows she has big shoes to fill.

The Mountain Home boys will hit the floor immediately following their female counterparts as they begin against Marion. The Junior Bombers went 21-2 last year after their season ended in the district tournament with a first round loss to Douglas MacArthur.
Cody Wilmath begins his second year as Mountain Home’s head coach, and he says his team has stayed focused in preparing for the season to start.
