A good-sized crowd braved the cold weather Sunday afternoon to attend the annual Veterans’ Day ceremony at the Mountain Home Plaza 2000. The keynote speaker was United States Navy veteran and former Mountain Home Junior ROTC instructor Trip Wilson.

Wilson serves as the Arkansas division commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He says he’s been presenting the colors for the SCV at Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day ceremonies for the last five years, and every time, he’s asked why a losing Confederate soldiers’ organization is presenting the colors.

Wilson also said there is a history of Confederate monuments, cemeteries, street names, school names and other artifacts coming under attack, and he believes the attacks won’t stop with Confederate soldiers.
