RCA NashvillePistol Annies have solidified their country cred this week as their latest album, Interstate Gospel, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

The trio, made up of Miranda LambertAshley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, penned each of the 14 songs on the project, which is their third studio album following the release of 2013’s Annie Up, which debuted at No. 3, and 2011’s Hell On Heels, which also topped the country charts. Their current single, “Got My Name Changed Back,” is at radio now.

“When I Was His Wife” was the song that that paved the way for what would become Interstate Gospel. In a previous interview, Miranda explained that it was the first song the three women penned for the project.

“That was the first song we kinda had written in a couple years,” Miranda recalls, “so that was the official first song of this project.”

“It was cool,” she adds. “I think it just set us up to get off and running. It opened the gate.”

The country trio will perform on Wednesday during the CMA Awards on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
