The Marion County Quorum Court has an agenda of 17 action items to consider when it meets Tuesday evening at 6:00.Among the items is an ordinance levying millage taxes for the year 2018 to be collected in 2019 to maintain governmental services.

In addition, the court will consider again an appropriation ordinance changing the amount of actual carryover in the county road sales tax in the 2018 operating budget. The ordinance notes the projected carryover shown in the 2018 budget was $90,000, when the actual was $158,305. The purpose of the ordinance is to move these unappropriated funds to fuel, oil, lube and tires and tubes line items.

Minutes reflect an effort to pass the ordinance failed at the October meeting, when justices Mike Scrima, Raymond Mayo and Claudia Brigham voted against it, with Joyce Ann McCalla abstaining and Gregg Alexander absent. Members Brady Madden, Carl McBee, Wesley Shipman and Nicholas Nugent supported the measure.

The minutes also reflect audience member Michael Haynes addressing the court at the October meeting to express his displeasure of its decision regarding the road department funds for fuel, oil, and repairs. Several other audience members expressed similar sentiments, according to the minutes.

The November meeting will be held in the Marion County Courthouse.
