Five of the six items were ordinances appropriating or reappropriating funds, including one routine housekeeping matter regarding fees to the sheriff’s department. Approval was then given to appropriate $15,000 in state grant funding to the Clarkridge Fire Department.

County Judge Mickey Pendergrass said the grant is one of four received locally from Rural Services in the latest round of awards. Awards were also made to the Cotter and Oakland Promise Land Fire Departments and the Baxter County Fair Board. Justice Luci Soltysik said the funds at Clarkridge are earmarked for a new truck.

The court also gave its unanimous approval levying millage taxes for the year 2018 to be collected in 2019 to maintain governmental services. Eight cities, six school districts, 14 fire departments, one improvement district, county general and road, the county library and Arkansas State University-Mountain Home are all among the taxing entities included in the ordinance. The millages remained unchanged from 2017.

A reappropriation request of $15,000 within the sheriff’s department budget was approved. The funds will be used to amend the purchase of a vehicle already approved.

The court also approved the appropriation of $10,000 to the assessor’s budget from the City of Mountain Home for the use of shared overhead visual software.

And the justices approved a resolution re-appointing Lindley Reuben and Fred Hosmer to three-year terms on the Grover Township Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners.
