Some MH phone customers could see increase in bills

The Mountain Home City Council will consider an ordinance amending a portion of the city’s municipal code adjusting franchise fees when it meets Thursday evening at 6:00 in regular session. Franchise fees are paid by entities in order to conduct business in the city.City Clerk Brian Plumlee says the proposed ordinance would raise the franchise rate on the phone portion for Suddenlink customers to 4.25 percent. He says at this time there is no franchise fee on phones for Suddenlink customers. Plumlee says the franchise fee for Suddenlink cable stands at 4 percent.In other business, the council will be asked to approve a transfer of funds from the administrative justice line item to the general fund.

The council will also consider an ordinance waiving competitive bidding and authorizing the purchase of an aerator/mixer.

The meeting will be held in the council chambers of the Municipal Building.
