Mobile home fire claims life of rural MH woman

An early morning mobile home fire has claimed the life of a rural Mountain Home woman. According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division, 77-year-old Ilene Stevenson died Friday at Baxter Regional Medical Center.

The fire occurred at the mobile home at 1128 Old Arkana Road. Mountain Home firefighters were called to the scene just after 2:00 and encountered the fully-involved mobile home upon arrival. All occupants of the home were out of the residence, and two occupants were attended to by Baxter Regional Ambulance personnel and transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center. One of the occupants, identified as Stephenson, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other unidentified female occupant had what were described as minor injuries.

Firefighters were on the scene for 3 1/2 hours with an engine, two tankers, a brush truck and two support vehicles. Mountain Home also received mutual aid with an engine and two tankers from the Buford Fire Department.

Sheriff’s investigators are continuing their efforts to determine a cause of the fire.
