A Mountain Home native has won the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Wildlife Officer of they Year award. Andy Barnes, a 1998 graduate of Mountain Home High School, was presented the award recently for the region which includes 15 states. Barnes was also named the Missouri Conservation Agent of the year, becoming the first agent to ever win the award twice.
Barnes was very humble when asked about the award by KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News.
Listen:
Barnes says wildlife officers, or conservation agents as they are known in Missouri, have many more duties than just checking hunting and fishing licenses.
Listen:
Barnes is still working on a huge case that involves a large group of individuals and deer violations that begin in Lawrence County which is his assigned county to work.
Listen:
Barnes is also trained in swift-water rescues and does training for other law enforcement agencies in Missouri.
