Melbourne man sentenced for crimes against children

An Izard County man has admitted to crimes involving children. According to Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, 64-year-old Steven Eldridge of Melbourne was sentenced to ten years in the Arkansas Department of Correction after pleading guilty to four counts of possessing, distributing or viewing of matter depicting sexually-explicit conduct involving a child.

Eldridge was arrested by the Cyber Crimes Unit of the Attorney General’s Office in May. Special agents in the Attorney General’s office had previously seized multiple computers and external hard drives from Eldrige’s residence.

Attorneys from Rutledge’s office were appointed as special prosecutors by 16th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Holly Meyer. Eldridge was sentenced in Izard County Circuit Court by Judge Tim Weaver.
