A Marion County man is accused of stealing from a local business. According to an arrest affidavit, 35-year-old Dereck Robinson of Flippin is in the Marion County Jail facing felony counts of commercial burglary and theft.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a call November 14th from Flippin Assistant Police Chief Dustin Carter stating he recognized a vehicle in security photos captured during the burglary of a local business a day earlier. Carter said the vehicle was known to be driven by Robinson, and it was parked outside the residence where he was known to live.

Marion County deputies and Flippin police officers went to the residence owned by the parents of the mother of Robinson’s children where he was believed to live in a camper trailer inside the garage. The owner gave authorities permission to enter the garage where they located a black battery charger outside the camper resembling the one stolen from the business, and a backpack was also located similar to the one in the photos.

When Robinson came out of the trailer, he originally denied being involved in the burglary, but he later allegedly admitted his involvement. He then reportedly said following the reading of his Miranda rights he still had a pair of battery chargers, but everything else was gone. Following his transport to the sheriff’s office, Robinson claimed in an interview he sold everything that was gone to a Mountain Home firefighter who didn’t know the items were stolen. He reportedly admitted to stealing the battery chargers and at least two lightbars.

Robinson also faces a charge of failure to appear. His bond is set at $10,495.
