As the Thanksgiving period starts to wind down, the mindframe for many now focuses on Christmas Day being nearly a month away. The Salvation Army in Mountain Home had their big Thanksgiving Day dinner on Thursday, and the attention now turns to their Red Kettles and Angel Trees.

The Salvation Army’s Christian Ministries Director Crystal McFarland says 487 meals were served for the organization’s Thanksgiving event with over 100 volunteers giving their time. Volunteers have also given their time with the Red Kettles despite some of the recent weather conditions, and McFarland says it has paid off so far.

McFarland says the giving spirit of the Twin Lakes Area is also evident with the Angel Trees scattered around local retailers and banks. She says they have already had to refill several trees.

McFarland goes on to add they currently are not accepting any new Angels for the tree, but that may change when they get closer to Christmas Day.
