2018 NBCUniversal Media, LLC The Christmas season got into full swing on Wednesday, with NBC’s lighting of the iconic Rockefeller Christmas tree, with the help of Brett Eldredge, Martina McBride and Kellie Pickler.

Eldredge, who also performed at last year’s event, was back this time to sing a couple of tunes from his new holiday album, Glow, including “Sleigh Ride” and the title track.

Hoda Kotbe and Crag Melvin, who hosted the show along with Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker, introduced McBride, noting she made a “special New York City stop” two perform a couple of songs from her new Christmas album, It’s the Holiday Season. They included “Winter Wonderland” and “Happy Holidays (It’s the Holiday Season).”

Also performing on the show was Pickler, who delivered a sultry version of “Santa Baby” and “Joy to the World” — the latter backed by a gospel choir.

The night, which also featured Radio City Music Hall’s high-stepping Rockettes dance troupe, among others, concluded with the lighting of Rockefeller Center’s 75-foot-tall tree blazing with more than 50,000 multi-colored LEDs.
