Residents of Anchorage and surrounding parts of Alaska are recovering after a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Friday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey says the earthquake centered approximately seven miles north of Anchorage, and several aftershocks have hit the area with one quake felt 350 miles away in Fairbanks.

Alaska resident Janice Knight is the wife of former Mountain Home resident Lynn Knight, and she says the quake caught nearly everyone by surprise, due to the impact and the length of time it lasted.
