Two local residents have made the Arkansas 250, a list of influencers and newsmakers selected by Arkansas Business.

State Representative Michelle Gray of Melbourne is among those involved in government and policy roles making the list. Representative Gray sponsored and ushered passage of a bill to regulate pharmacy benefit managers. She serves on the Governor’s Health Care Task Force and works at White River Health System in Batesville as the director of provider operations.

Mike Mills, owner of Buffalo Outdoor Center in Ponca, is among those making the list in the quality of life category. Mills was inducted into the Arkansas State Tourism Hall of Fame this year, a recognition of a lifetime of work advocating for the state and especially the Buffalo National River. He began guiding float tours in 1970, and he founded Buffalo Outdoor Center 42 years ago.

In compiling the Arkansas 250 list, Arkansas Business looked for influencers making an impact in a variety of professional and nonprofit endeavors at the local, regional and state levels.

Included in the Arkansas 250 is a mix of household names and rising stars. Some are comfortable effecting change in the spotlight, while others prefer for their influence and accomplishments to remain behind the scenes.
