MH student wins national essay contest

The Mountain Home Elks Lodge has honored a local student for winning the fifth and sixth grade division of the Elk's National Americanism Essay contest.

Gray Padgett of Pinkston Middle School placed first at nationals with his essay "Why Our Veterans Are America's Heroes." The Elks honored Padgett with a plaque, along with a $200 check.

Padgett won the local and state contest in order to compete at the national level.

The Pinkston Middle School student is the second from Mountain Home to win the Elk's National Americanism Essay contest.
