The Office of Education Policy from the University of Arkansas has announced the Izard County School District has won four Beating the Odds ACT Aspire awards.

The high school won for statewide overall growth for eighth in the state, statewide English language arts growth for ninth in the state, and English language arts growth in the northeast region for placing second.

The elementary school won for math growth in the northeast region for placing second.

Beating the Odds awards are based on demonstrating high growth on ACT Aspire within schools that have a high poverty rate.

In an earlier announcement, ICC High School also won an award for finishing fifth in the northeast region of the state for high English language arts growth.

The ACT Aspire assesses student readiness in English, math, reading, science and writing. The results are linked to college and career data.
