Local business owners Todd Gilbert and Jodi Strother, along with a delegation representing the Michael J. Cleary Endowment, have stepped forward with donations for Baxter Regional Medical Center’s efforts to purchase two new ambulances.

Todd Gilbert Insurance and the Strother Firm, PA, combined their efforts for a $7,500 gift.

The delegation from the Twin Lakes Community Foundation and Arkansas Community Foundation, on behalf of the Cleary endowment, presented a check for $4,500.

The Cleary fund is held with the Twin Lakes Community Foundation and was established to provide assistance to charitable causes in the Twin Lakes Area.

BRMC kicked off a campaign in September to purchase two new ambulances expected to impact more than 10,000 lives in Baxter and Marion counties.

The new ambulances would replace two units with over 430,000 miles on them.

The average ambulance stays in service for five to seven years, but some in the fleet at BRMC have been traveling the roads of Baxter and Marion counties and beyond for more than 16 years.

For $200,000, BRMC hopes to purchase two 2019 Ford E450 ambulances. If the new ambulances perform as well as their predecessors, they will travel nearly 500,000 miles each and impact more than 10,000 lives. Hospital ambulance personnel expect the new vehicles to exceed these goals, as their hope is to continue to invest in industry-leading equipment for their ambulance fleet over the next few years.
