The deadline for submitting applications to Ozark Opportunities, Inc. for the mobile micro-shelter youth initiative has been extended to Friday.
Ozark Opportunities Inc. is working with local youth groups in an effort to eradicate homelessness in north Arkansas. A mobile micro-shelter is a safe, secure place for homeless individuals to sleep while undergoing the process to obtain more permanent housing.
OOI will coordinate grant monies to purchase the build materials for the mobile micro-shelter. The selected youth organization will coordinate the tools, site, time and personnel resources to complete the build following its plan.
When the build is complete, the micro-shelter will then be turned over to OOI to coordinate with community partners for placement and usage.
Recent assessments by OOI have shown access to safe and affordable housing is a top concern for area residents. Homelessness is an issue with limited shelter options in the communities served by OOI.
The mobile micro-shelter youth initiative is open to youth groups in Baxter, Boone, Marion and Searcy counties.
Information on the youth mobile micro-shelter build initiative is available on the OOI website OOI and Facebook.
