Short meeting, quick action for BC Quorum Court

With all 11 justices present, the Baxter County Quorum Court gave its unanimous approval Tuesday evening to the adoption of revisions and additions to the county's personnel policy manual from 2007. The action came during the quorum court's regular monthly session. The update has been on the court's agenda for three months and gained passage with no discussion.

Following a meeting of the budget committee just prior to the full court's meeting, unanimous approval was given to a reappropriation of almost $4,900 in the prosecuting attorney's department budget for the victim witness coordinator position. The measure was sponsored by the budget committee.

A similar request was made in late 2018 prior to the adoption of the 2019 budget, but did not receive approval.

The budget meeting preceding the full court session was the committee's first since the new court was seated in January. Three members returned to the committee, Chairman Gary Smith and Justices Luci Soltysik and Edna Fusco. They are joined by new members Cameron Davis and Robert Lowery.

The court also gave its approval to Judge Mickey Pendergrass' reappointments of Tom Telford and Jim Jestadt to the Northeast Lakeside Fire Department Board of Directors.

Approval was also given for Judge Pendergrass to apply for grants through the Arkansas Rural Development Commission on behalf of the Arkana and Galatia communities.
