Friday was a tough Sweetheart Royalty night for the Mountain Home High School basketball teams as they were swept by Nettleton.

The boys’ game went to double overtime as the Bombers fell to the Raiders 65-52. This was a game of back-and-forths with a total of nine lead changes and six ties. Mountain Home was up by two toward the end of the game when Kortez Hamilton grabbed an offensive rebound and converted the putback. Mountain Home had one last possession to try to win the game in regulation, but they ended up turning the ball over. Nettleton took a timeout with 1.7 seconds left and came back trying to inbound a baseball style pass, but the Bombers knocked it away to force an extra period. Neither team scored in overtime as the Raiders held the ball for much of the period and missed their last shot at the buzzer. It looked like the same thing was going to happen in the second overtime period until Kevin Fulton hit a jumper near the elbow, and Nettleton took over from there.
Colton Peters led Mountain Home with 17 points, and Wyatt Gilbert added 15. For the Raiders, Fulton scored 27 points, Jarquavious Cain had 14, and Hamilton chipped in 11.
The Bombers fall to 8-16 on the season and 3-9 in the 5A-East. Nettleton improves to 14-7 and 8-4.

The girls’ game began the evening as Mountain Home lost to the Lady Raiders 59-50. Nettleton jumped out early as the Lady Bombers struggled against the pressure defense. The Lady Raiders had built a few double digit leads, but they also made their share of mistakes allowing Mountain Home to cut the margin to two in the second half. Unfortunately, the Lady Bombers would get no closer as Nettleton pulled away for the nine-point victory.
Mountain Home was led by Kate Gilbert with 13 points, Anna Grace Foreman finished with 12, and Payton Huskey provided 11. Elauna Eaton ended up with 23 points for the Lady Raiders, Dasia Young scored 15, and Wakiryah Daniels added ten.
The Lady Bombers drop to 15-10 overall and 7-5 in the league. Nettleton is now 23-1 and 12-0.

Mountain Home will have its last road trip of the regular season Tuesday as they go to Searcy.

In other 5A-East girls’ action, Jonesboro beat up on Searcy 49-26, Paragould pounded West Memphis 54-32, and Marion edged out Greene County Tech 56-53.
In the boys’ games, Jonesboro defeated Searcy 84-70, West Memphis topped Paragould 64-54, and Marion routed Tech 80-60.
