PRAIRIE GROVE, Ark. (AP)   Police say more than 70 guns have been stolen from a hardware store in northwest Arkansas.

Police in Prairie Grove say the Ace Hardware store was broken into about 3 a.m. Friday, but the store’s alarm was not triggered and numerous weapons were taken.

Police say the suspects, who have not been identified, returned about two hours later and triggered the alarm, but took several more weapons before officers arrived.

A total of 79 guns were taken, including pistols, revolvers and rifles.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has joined the investigation.

Prairie Grove is about 145 miles (233 kilometers) northwest of Little Rock.
