The incident happened shortly after 6:45 p.m. at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine, California.

“An elderly man driving through the parking lot near the front entrance struck a fence, another vehicle and several pedestrians,” the Irvine Police Department said in a statement. “The vehicle then struck a parked and unoccupied police vehicle. The police vehicle was pushed onto the grass area near the box office where several people were picnicking before the concert striking numerous individuals.”

Police said the Orange County Fire Authority treated 9 patients, including 4 individuals “considered traumas.”

The police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting an investigation.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.
