Abused and neglected horses find new life and homes

     Although Jo Ann Joseph of Marion County and her friends are passionate about horses, it was never their intention to begin a rescue for abused and neglected horses. But watching a horse they named General suffer, changed all that she says.

     As reported in a previous segment, Hope for Horses, a two year old non-profit all volunteer organization, works with local law enforcement to evaluate and monitor reports of abuse and neglect; help horse owners, if possible and rescue animals when necessary. This segment focuses on the final step of rehabilitating the horses and placing them into the adopted homes of qualified horse owners.

     After a horse is immediately rescued and evaluated by a veterinarian, it is brought back to health and placed in the foster home of a volunteer where rehabilitation continues, according to Joseph.
