The bus was carrying 46 passengers on board including the Ramah Juco Academy football team from Rock Hill, South Carolina, as well as players from Clinton College, Lt. The highway patrol spokesman said a preliminary investigation revealed the front tire of the bus blew and the bus swerved and struck a guard rail.

Injured passengers were taken to four hospitals in the area, according to Lt. Gordon, including Sand Hill Regional Medical Center, First Health-Richmond, First Health-Moore, and Scotland Memorial Hospital.
