Bombers host Hall, rest of Friday schedule

It’s week eight of the high school football season in Arkansas and the Mountain Home Bombers return home to host Little Rock Hall. The Bombers are 1-6 on the season and 1-3 in the 6A East conference after last week’s loss at Marion. The Warriors are 2-5 and 0-4 and coming off a loss to Jacksonville.

Mountain Home head coach David Joyce says Hall has many weapons they have to slow down.

Kickoff at Bomber Stadium is at 7:00 with the pre-game beginning at 5:30 on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live on ktlo.com.



Elsewhere in the 6A East tonight, Marion is at Pine Bluff, Jonesboro hosts Searcy and West Memphis travels to Jacksonville.



It’s Senior Night for Yellville-Summit. The Panthers will play their final home game of 2016 as they go up against Mountain View.

Yellville-Summit is 0-6 on the season and 0-4 in the 3A-1 after a six-point loss to Melbourne last week. Mountain View is 6-1 and 4-0 coming off a shutout victory over Green Forest, and Panthers’ head coach Tommy Britt says the Yellowjackets’ offense has a combination of size and speed.

Kickoff at Panther Field is scheduled for seven p.m.

Also in the 3A-1, Melbourne travels to Elkins, Marshall hosts Clinton, and Green Forest entertains Greenland.



Elsewhere on the local Arkansas schedule, Salem makes the trip to Marked Tree, and Harrison heads to Alma.

There are two games where teams in the Arkansas Associated Press Top Ten will be paired up, and one of them could potentially be the marquee matchup of the season. Top-ranked Har-Ber is home against number two Fayetteville, and number three North Little Rock travels to Fort Smith to meet eighth-ranked Northside.



The postseason gets underway in Missouri as it’s the opening week of district play.

West Plains will be on the road for its opener in the Class 4, District 5 Playoffs. The Zizzers make the trip to Camdenton.

Hollister will be the road team for its first game in the Class 3, District 4 Playoffs. The Tigers’ opening opponent will be Mount Vernon.

Branson will have home-field advantage to begin the Class 5, District 4 Playoffs. The Pirates are slated to host Waynesville.

A few local teams will begin action in the Class 2, District 3 Playoffs. Ava entertains Strafford, Willow Springs heads to Diamond, top-seeded Mountain View-Liberty is home against Houston, and Mountain Grove hosts Cuba.

Thayer is the second-seeded team in the Class 1, District 2 Playoffs. The Bobcats open the postseason by entertaining Pleasant Hope.



In high school basketball, the Twin Rivers Classic gets back underway in Norfork. Action tips off at 4:00 with a doubleheader between Valley Springs and South Side-Bee Branch, Cotter’s girls face Alpena at 6:30, and Bay’s boys take on Alpena at 7:45.

The Bad Boy Mowers Classic will resume at Izard County High School in Brockwell. On the girls’ side, Viola plays Abundant Life at 3:30, Nemo Vista meets Bay at 5:30, and Dermott will be matched up with Nevada at 7:30. In boys’ action, Viola faces Abundant Life at 4:30, Nemo Vista takes on Dermott at 6:30, and Izard County plays Nevada at 8:30.

Elsewhere, Calico Rock travels to Fox to meet Rural Special, and Jasper faces Wonderview at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville.
